DINGING AND RESTAURANTS

- - - CARMEL, CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, AND CARMEL VALLEY:

1) La Bicyclette Restaurant
Dolores St. at 7th
Carmel-by-the-Sea

A very small, cozy, romantic, and simply delicious French/Mediterranean style restaurant located right in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Be sure to get a reservation as seating is exceptionally limited.

2) Casanova Restaurant
5th St. between Mission & San Carlos
Carmel-by-the-Sea

Ambiance and decor are simply first-rate and the French and Italian cuisine goes right along side. This restaurant just "feels" like Carmel; perhaps a reason why it's always a favorite of local and tourist alike.

3) Anton & Michele
Mission St. between Ocean Ave. and 7th
Carmel-by-the-Sea

If you're looking for a good romantic French restaurant where you can dress in a bit more formal attire than normal, then Anton & Michele or perhaps Fresh Cream (see below) are your best bets. The ambiance is top-notch and sure to please. The same proprietors also operate PortaBella (a great choice for Mediterranean cuisine on a bit less formal note).

4) Pacific's Edge Restaurant (at the Carmel Highlands Inn)
120 Highlands Dr.
Carmel Highlands

Swanky and romantic with a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and Point Lobos. Delicious menu with a French and American style. Exceptionally attentive service to round out an amazing experience. Don't dine too late otherwise it'll be too dark for you to feast on the amazing view.

Beautiful view overlooking the Fisherman's Wharf (not on the wharf but overlooking the wharf). As with Anton & Michele (see above), if you're looking for romantic French cuisine this really is the best bet for the Monterey Peninsula. Great food and service makes for a wonderful experience.
